Eddie Izzard to Play Hannibal Lecter in Upcoming TV Series

The British comedian and actor will take on the iconic role in a new adaptation of Thomas Harris' novel "Red Dragon."

The series, which is being developed for NBC, will follow Will Graham (Richard Armitage), a brilliant but troubled FBI profiler who is called in to help track down a serial killer known as the Tooth Fairy. Izzard will play Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a cannibalistic serial killer.

Izzard is best known for his stand-up comedy and his roles in films such as "The Valkyrie" and "The Riches." He is also a vocal advocate for LGBT rights and has been nominated for an Academy Award for his work in the film "Velvet Goldmine."

The casting of Izzard as Lecter is a bit of a surprise, as the actor is not known for playing dark or sinister roles. However, Izzard is a very talented actor and he is sure to bring something new to the role of Lecter. The series is scheduled to premiere in 2023.
