Airbus Crash in the French Alps Kills 150

Germanwings Flight 9525 Crashes into Mountainside

All 150 Passengers and Crew Killed

An Airbus A320 operated by Lufthansa's Germanwings budget airline crashed into a mountainside in the French Alps on Tuesday, killing all 150 people on board, including 16 German school children. The flight was en route from Barcelona to Dusseldorf when it crashed at around 10:45 a.m. local time.

The cause of the crash is still unknown, but investigators are examining the possibility of a mechanical failure or human error. There was no distress call from the cockpit before the plane crashed, and air traffic controllers lost contact with the aircraft shortly before it disappeared from radar.

The crash site is located in a remote area of the Alps, and rescue workers are having difficulty reaching the wreckage. French President Francois Hollande has expressed his condolences to the victims' families, and German Chancellor Angela Merkel has ordered an investigation into the crash.

This is the deadliest авиакатастрофа in France since the Concorde crash in 2000, and the deadliest авиакатастрофа involving a German airline since the Germanwings Flight 9525 crash in 1997.
