Dan Hurley Answers Whether He Still Wants To Coach In Nba

Dan Hurley Breaks His Silence on Whether He Still Wants to Coach in the NBA

A Look at Hurley's Coaching Career

When Dan Hurley took over as head coach of the UConn men's basketball team in 2018, he was tasked with the daunting task of rebuilding a once-proud program that had fallen on hard times.

In his first season, the Huskies went just 16-17, but Hurley quickly began to turn things around. In 2019-20, UConn finished 19-12 and reached the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2016.

Last season, the Huskies took another step forward, going 23-9 and earning a share of the Big East regular season championship. They also reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Hurley's NBA Ambitions

Hurley has never made a secret of his desire to coach in the NBA. In 2019, he told the New York Post that he "would love to coach in the NBA someday."

However, Hurley has also said that he is committed to UConn and that he is not in a hurry to leave.

"I'm not going to leave UConn for just any NBA job," Hurley said in 2020. "It would have to be the right situation."

Hurley's Future

It remains to be seen whether Hurley will eventually coach in the NBA. He is still just 50 years old, and he has already had a successful coaching career at both the college and international levels.

If Hurley does decide to make the jump to the NBA, he would likely be a sought-after candidate. He is a proven winner, and he has a reputation for developing young players.

However, Hurley is also a loyal person, and he is committed to UConn. It would take a very special opportunity for him to leave Storrs.
