Reliance Disney Willing To Offload Channels To Get Cci Nod

Reliance, Disney Offer Channel Sales To Accelerate Merger Approval

Companies Face CCI Inquiry

Reliance and Walt Disney have proposed selling several TV channels to expedite antitrust approval for their $85 billion merger in India. The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has reportedly posed approximately 100 questions to the companies regarding the merger.

Concessions Offered

According to sources, Reliance and Disney have offered concessions to address CCI concerns. These concessions include divesting certain TV channels to reduce market concentration and alleviate potential competition concerns.

Reliance and Disney have emphasized that their cricket rights were acquired separately through a bidding process and are not part of the merger.

The CCI is expected to review the concessions and make a decision on whether to approve the merger. The outcome of the review will determine the fate of the proposed transaction.
